Introduction

The territory of the archipelago of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina is composed of small islands, cays and islets whose total area does not exceed the 53 km2. SAINT LOUIS SECTOR AND ITS BEACHES

It is one of the most popular places for tourists seeking white sandy beaches and a calm sea.


SOUTH TIP

This is where the island is divided into two as the locals say and where is located the central point of San Andres. Upon arrival you will find a restaurant,a bar and a very pleasant veranda from which you have the view of the ocean in all its splendor.


HOLE BLOWER

A few meters away from Punta Sur you will find a very peculiar rock formation that is known as the Hole blower or Hoyo Soplador due to the effect that there is caused when the tide rises.


WEST VIEW AND THE LITTLE SWIMMING POOL

The cliffs of this area of the island are certainly an interesting attraction, especially for those who enjoy swimming and dive into the sea.


COVE BAY

Its biggest attraction is the forest of its surroundings and a spectacular view of a deep blue sea where the ships arrive at port bringing tourists from around the world. In this area of the island the sun hides, and at dusk it creates a unique light effect. There are some good restaurants in this area.


MORGAN´S CAVE

On the way of La Loma on the km 8th trough the Circunvalar avenue you reach the Morgan Cave,a legendary and mysterious mouth that the time has opened up in a coral rock. The oldest inhabitants of San Andres argue that in this place the pirate used to arrive to hide his treasures in the depths of the ocean.


HOUSE MUSEUM OF THE ISLAND

Is the place where the San Andreans native customs and home traditions of the archipelago, the old practices and habits of the first islanders lie.


THE HILL

Is the name which is known the oldest neighborhood of San Andres and the place where the Raizal population of the island live.


BIG POND LAGOON

The inhabitants of the Loma say that in the past the lagoon was three times bigger than what is today: 400 by 150 meters long and 30 mt deep. It is surrounded by a grove of fruit trees, and on one of the sides there is a typical restaurant that offers delicious food, you will it enjoy the while admiring the surroundings.


JOHNNY CAY REGIONAL PARK

The islet that be seen from the beaches of downtown of San Andres was appointed as a regional park in 2001, in order to improve hygiene conditions and exploitation of resources.


HAYNES CAY

The clear water that allows you to guess from the surface the beauty of the interior of the sea, is the main feature of this area of the island, known as the Aquarium by the diversity of marine species that live here.


PATHWAY

The pedestrian pier along the beach of the center of San Andres allows a stunning view of the sea of seven colors and the cute Jhonny Cay. In the distance you can see Haynes Cay and the Aquarium.

  • Accommodations:
    The tourist lodges are an interesting alternative accommodation because in there you can see the habits of the islanders and details of their daily life. To choose the best options it is advisable to request the advice of tourist agencies operating in San Andres.
  • Health:

  • What to Bring:
    Bathing suits, light clothing, sunscreen and camera.
  • Timetables:
    Most stores and shopping centers are open to the public in two schedules from: 9:00 am to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On the avenue from the beach there are some establishments that serve 24 hours.
  • Documentation:
    Both domestic and foreign policies must be followed, the tourist card to enter the island. Foreigners must carry passports and the Colombian citizenship identification.
  • Shipping:
    In San Andres public transport operates buses, taxis and tourism buses which will take you to the point of the island that you want to visit.
