The tourist lodges or hostels after the Vela have two designs, which are built in mud and those built with yotojoro, which is the heart of cactus and which is used to build all the ranches of Wayúu.

Nearly all are located opposite the beach and some have expanded their services and small restaurants that have greater capacity to accommodate tourists. There are more than 130 inns attended by the Wayúu families.

Accommodations:
All lodgings have the same design. Those that are built into yotojoro (wood) have two bedrooms with a bathroom and capacity for 4 people and a terrace with hammocks or up to 5 people. Those that are built on mud have two rooms with a capacity for 4 people and a Enrramada for hammocks. Keep in mind that not all have the service of beds, so it is important to take advice well before traveling. Many inns have built enrramadas for additional sleeping in hammocks.
